Just Another Manic…Er, Random Thursday

September 4, 2008

So, it’s one of those days where there’s a bunch of different thoughts floating around my head and topics I want to wrap up, but none of them are long enough to turn into an entire blog post. So…once again…bullet points!

  • I swapped chairs with Miss Matches (a.k.a. Co-Worker #2) this morning. And, I forgot to do it when I first got to work, so I ended up doing it in front of 2 of my co-workers. They said, “Uh, what are you doing?” I said, “Swapping my squeaky chair with the person that is only here 2 days a week.” They laughed. And then my male co-worker said, “And why don’t you just use some WD-40??” Thanks, I never thought of that!!!…..
  • I had posted a while back that I was planning on taking the GRE’s as a prerequisite for getting into grad school. However, the school I’ve decided to go to presents potential students with the option of taking either the GRE’s or the MAT’s (Miller Analogies Test). Since yours truly isn’t exactly a whiz at math or science, I’ve decided upon the MAT’s. And, in the spirit of things, here’s a test question for you (just so you can get a small taste of what I have to study my brains out for…):

Pike : Peak :: Chisolm : (a. path, b. trail, c. mountain, d. city)

OK, now that business is taken care of, I need an opinion from all you faithful readers. Yep, all 5 of you.

I’m feeling like it’s time to do another “Why I Could Never Be Friends With ______” post.

Here are my choices, currently, in the spirit of the upcoming elections:

Why I Could Never Be Friends With Barack Obama
Why I Could Never Be Friends With Joe Biden
Why I Could Never Be Friends With Nancy Pelosi

…or last, but not least,

Why I Could Never Be Friends With Alan Colmes

Ready…set…VOTE!!!

  1. You realize you will now have to “take care” of those two co-workers/witnesses, right? If you need help disposing of their bodies, e-mail me.

Good luck on the MAT. By the way, the proper answer to that test question isn’t listed. The answer is “E: names of my future children.”

You’re welcome regarding the banner. It looks great!

I vote for “Why I Could Never Be Friends With Barack Obama.” Yes, and since I am the first person to vote, I think the polls should close as soon as I submit this comment…

  2. I could never be friends with any of the above, but I definitely vote for Barack! (errr… not like that… I vote for you to inform us why you couldn’t be friends with him. I would never ACTUALLY vote for Barack).

  3. Kev :: I’ll let you know if I need help. My male co-worker is about 6′2″ so I may need help with him. The other is barely taller than me…I should be able to drag her to my trunk…

Thanks for the well-wishes for the MAT!

Someday, you will name your child “Chisolm”, and then they will change their name. Don’t cry when that happens.

Allison :: See, that’s why I need votes - I couldnt’ be friends with any of them either!

Sooo…2 votes so far for B. Hussein Obama, or as I like to call him, Barack O’Hussein! (And, sorry Kev, I couldn’t close the polls fast enough!

  4. Nah, WD-40 is cheating. She took your @*&!ing chair. You took it back. All is fair in love and cubicle-war. Besides, if you want the good stuff, try Boe-Shield T-9. It was developed by Boeing for aircraft lubrication, costs $17 a can, and works AWESOME. Your bike will never rust with that shit on it. You can leave it outside at the seashore for six months and not get a speck of rust on it. It’s like Gunk plus paraffin wax, so it seals the oil inside against whatever you spray it on. Haven’t tried to see how flammable it is yet. Wheee!

I think I’m alienating people (yuk yuk) with my bashing of Obama, and I’d hate for you to suffer too. Perhaps Pelosi is an easier target. She certainly is easier to loathe. So many things to loathe about her. And where she comes from. And her stupid ideas. And her attitude. And her kowtowing to terrorists. And and and.

Chisholm Trail. A dirt trail used in the latter 19th century to drive cattle overland from ranches in Texas to Kansas railheads. Do I get into school now? Wait, what am I getting a degree in again?

  5. Marvin :: I have never heard of this Boe-Shield T-9 stuff, and you’d think I would have, being that Boeing is HUGE up here! Hmmmm….I wonder if it IS flammable…that could be fun, come the 4th of July!

Soooo one vote for Pelosi, then! I agree, she is DEFINITELY an easy target…problem is, she has been “changing” (as much as she really changes) her views to support Obama. Big shock there, I know…and I don’t really care if I alienate people - although, technically, I won’t be saying anything that isn’t a hard cold fact…so if people can’t take the truth…not my problem!

You totally pass the MAT question. :-) Way to go. You’ll be going to school for a Master’s in Counseling w/ MFT (marriage and family therapy) emphasis. Don’t forget to give them my name for the diploma. That’s A-N-G-I, no “e”. Thanks!

  6. Well, in the wake of the preposterous attacks on the Republican VP candidate, I’d like to see the Democrat VP candidate get some attention. But since no one else is voting for Biden, well, Obama will do. I think more people are aware that Pelosi’s a fruitcake. But I could be wrong…

  7. And BTW - I knew the Chisolm Trail, too! You may call me Counselor.

  8. Steve You know, I was kind of thinking the same thing myself - Biden hasn’t really gotten much attention, which is unfortunate, because I think he is about as crooked as they come. Anyone else care to vote for Biden??

Also - good job on the test question, Counselor. ;-)

  9. I’ll vote for Biden, unless the polls are closed. Voting is fun!

Do you think 6′2″ tall co-worker would take your side in the impending officemate war? Someone like that might be good to have in your corner.

  10. Erin :: Hmmmm let’s see. 2 votes for Biden, 2 for O’Hitler, and one for Pelosi…I need a tiebreaker now!

Hmmmm. I bet he would take my side. He’s pretty cool like that. He climbs Mt. Rainier like…every other week, so I know he could totally take both Co-Worker #1 (who is about 5′2) and Co-Worker #2 (who isn’t much taller!)
